Cebu City--- Cebuana beauty queen Ms. Olive-C Campus Model Philippines 2010 Muriel Adrienne Isidore Orais took part in the Philippine Airlines’ latest heart-touching advertisement in celebration of the company’s 75th year. The new-ad campaign --- which also features the voices and appearances of the internationally renowned Filipino artists Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Lea Salonga --- is entitled “The Heart of the Filipino.”
Muriel, who currently works as flight attendant for the country’s flag carrier, appears in both the print and TV campaigns, which show the milestones of PAL and its success in maintaining and promoting the heart of the Filipino --- values, tradition, and culture. The Cebuano smile (real, pure, and warm) is evident in Muriel’s aura, making her effective for her role as a flight attendant.
Muriel said she was chosen to be part of the campaign because the management saw her loveliness, friendliness, hospitality, generosity, warmth, and resilience, the Filipino values that PAL has instilled for seven-and-a-half decades of its operations. Being a beauty queen and model, she added, was a plus factor.
The lovely Cebuana represented Cebu Velez College when she joined and won her first national title, the Ms. Olive-C Campus Model Philippines, in 2010, making her the first titleholder of the pageant and the first student-contract talent of CREWorks Asia, the marketing and PR arm of Psalmstre, maker of Olive-C soap. With the support of Olive-C owner Jim Acosta, Muriel joined Miss Philippines-Earth in 2011, representing Cebu City, and won as Miss Philippines-Water (2nd runner-up).
As an environmentalist, Muriel wants to promote the use of hybrid vehicles and living basic lifestyles as means of reducing air pollution and carbon footprints.
“Using hybrid vehicles is one solution to cut down to almost half the use of fossil-fuel or coal, which eventually promotes cleaner air and less-carbon emission. So many diseases nowadays are related to air pollution, and global warming is worsened due to too much carbon in the atmosphere. Another solution is also going back to the basic lifestyle, walking and biking,” Muriel explained.
The Cebuana registered nurse is turning 25 on September, which means she has only two years to join the Binibining Pilipinas race. According to her, if her plan falls into place, she will definitely join before the age requirement lapses, adding that joining the country’s number one pageant is every beauty queen’s dream.
“To all girls, who like me, want to succeed in the beauty and service industry, be discovered by Olive-C. Join the sixth season of the pageant and expect better changes to come along your way after the pageant. The Ms. Olive-C pageant opened so many doors of opportunities for me,” she added.
Students --- who are 14 to 20 years old, stand at least 5’4” (girls) and 5’7” (boys), and currently enrolled --- are encouraged to join the Mr. and Ms. Olive-C Campus Model Cebu 2016 pageant. For details about the go-sees and screenings, call 09487902644 or 09228493586. --- Ricio Rich M. Salibay
